i have a 1990 sohc. when i try to start my car it take awhile to start it somestimes just wont rollover. i try pressing on the throttle and it will sometimes start up but then it just bogs out on me.and if i do get it started i start driving and when i hit the brakes the car just stalls out. it seems like the throttle cables are bad or something. what else could this be, has anyone else had the problem and got it fixed. and my idle is super rough and jumps up from 500-1000rpms and i tried using some carbon cleaner in the throttle body doesnt seem to help. i just replaced the alternator and battery, the car has 126k miles. anything else i should change or clean?

Check the vacume hoses around the pcv and the egr valve make sure you don't have a vacume leak. also check that your sparkplug wires are in the right order and your timing is good.

SR20 solve all problems LOL!... I've known people to have more problems with those motors after the swap than with the KA. Anyways... try cleaning the IAC valve. Its a small valve that allows air into the manifold to maintain idle. If it is clogged up or is malfunctioning anytime you want to idle the car will spudder and die. When you close the throttle plate to deaccelerate you are putting the motor in an idle state. The valve would then cause the car to studder and die. Spray some carb cleaner in there and turn on the car. You may try doing it a few times if you keep stalling out. If you keep stalling out after about 3 tries then its time to replace it.

When you're cranking the car make sure the tach reads around 300rpm, if it doesnt check and charge your battery it should be more than 12 volts. Make sure engine temp sensor is good and clean (no green corrosion), check your air regulator, check all your fuses especially the 2nd or 3rd? from bottom on the right column on the fuse box next to the drivers left foot. Is your car hard to start every single time, before its warmed up, after??

now it doesnt even start, i thought maybe it was voltage, so i tried jumping it, it still doesnt turn. i can see the fan turn but doesnt wanna start, but i am noticing a lot of gas coming out of the first 2 injectors, could that be the problem? i tried spraying carb cleaner in the manifold but no dice. im going crazy, i have to drive my sisters slow *** focus se. that car has NO BALLS. i think im just gonna toss the sr20 into it and fawk all the bullshiz. or just go broke paying for for a 350z or a spec v maybe. has anyone ever drieven one of the new spec v se-r's? are they nice?

If you have fuel coming out of the fuel injectors on the outside of the intake manifold that is very, very bad! Sounds like you have 2 bad injectors.

also check for corroded battery wires and stuff. It might have just enough voltage to start, but as soon as you press the brakes, it sucks up that much more and the car dies. this may also be why it would not start during a jump. other than that, do what everyone els said.
