Im having a problem with my 90 hatch, i havent moved my car in about 2 mos because my clutch peddle is all the way down and its leaking the fluid, my friend told me that i need to change the clutch bearings? I think thats what he told me, and he said that its not an expensive and difficult thing to do...what is it that i need to do, or whats wrong with the peddle/clutch area (you'll have to forgive me i dont know much about auto mechanics) and also, i just jumped started the car, and the engine started fine, but after like 5 mins i tried to flore it and give it some gas and the engine started to shake, now before the clutchpeddle area started leacking fluid, i changed the gas filter. What shaking is this, and what does it mean??? Also while the car was steal on, i stepped on the brake peddal and the car died and will not start back up again without me jumpstarting it again! Please help!

check your clutch lines, master cylinder, and the slave cylinder for any leak. it could be either be your master or slave, if you haven't change any of those parts.

Sounds like someone needs a good tune up and a new battery. Where is your clutch fluid leaking from? Where ever it's leaking from, replace it. Bleed it, then you'll be fine.

Makes sense. That is you clutch master cylinder.

As for the shaking, since it is only doing it once the car is warmed up, then its running like it is extremely rich, try checking your coolant temp sensor. That would be a likely cause.

I'll translate for him and tell you more about the condition.

The Clutch Master Cylinder is on the fire wall at the opposite end of the rod comming off of the clutch pedal. The seal where the rod goes into the master cylinder can go out, causing it to leak into the car. If the fluid goes too low in the cylinder, (ie, dry) then you will have no clutch pedal untill you fill and bleed the system. The only way to fix the leak is to replace the Master cylinder unfortunately.

As for the Coolant Temp Sensor........when it goes bad the car will go into a safety mode that makes the car assume a certain temperature (near fully warmed up) which will cause the car to run extremely rich untill it is warmed up and run imperfect/down on power once it's up to temp. If you have an S13 with a DOHC you can only get a new sensor from the dealer for $40. Autozone, Napa, etc don't carry it. (The show the wrong part #)

I would certainly check the codes however as this agian could just be your severe need for a tune up. Check the faq for info on how to check your codes. If you CTS is bad it'll show up in your ecu.

That's actually the part # they show for the DOHC (the one for the sohc) so you should be fine. $20 at autozone. No clue where it's at thoguh on an SOHC, sorry.

And yes, same symptoms on both motors.

hmm, b4 replacing parts, try to get the trouble codes 1st... there's a code for a bad/ disconnected Coolant temp sensor...

http://www.240sx.org in the faq section.

sensors are near the air bleed valve/bolt (a yellow warning sticker is near it) @ the front of the engine-next to the valve cover by the fuel rail; 1 wire sensor is for the gauge i believe & the 2 wire one is for the ECU... but like i said, it may be one of many causes...

clutch master cyl replacement takes priority, of course
