ok, i took my car for a spin around the block, and i get about 1/4 mile from my house, and i see steam coming from under the hood, so i turn the car off, and roll it the hell back, and i pop the hood, and my water pump, which some of you know i bought a few weeks ago, had sheared in half. im speechless, all the belts came off and theres coolant all over everything. i have no idea what kind of damage this has done, but im gonna storm into autozone with an ak and start taking names. i mean, i have only had the car on the road for 2 days! ive driven it to a friend's house once, and to school the other time. both are less than 5 miles away, and i did no hard driving. what the hell? right now, im about to start robbing liqour stores to pay for this. either that or auto zone is gonna get my foot shoves really far up their ***. im so mad...i cant even think straight...heads will roll tomorrow..

well if you can prove it was a faulty part you should get a refund and a free replacement part. Good luck though, I don't know how customer service oriented Autozone is. It might be worth getting a genuine part from Nissan although this is the first time I have ever heard something like this.

what happened was te impeller sheared off the shaft and the shaft, pulley, and fan went through my radiator. all the belts came off, and coolant ate through some of my belts, even though i sprayed them with a hose when i figured it was cooled off. an hour and a half later, it was still pouring out steam....im gonna go cry again...

I hate the autozone too. They are idiots. I asked a guy in there if they had wheel weights, and he just stared at me like i was crazy.

Take back the various broken parts and a quote for fixing the radiator, and don't leave the store till they reinburse you. Be nice or be loud and pissed, doesent matter just stay in the store and keep annoying people. You'll get your cash back.

not enough clearance between the shaft and the body of the water pump probably caused increadible friction. Did you notice a slightly lower idle RPM or squealing you thought was a belt after putting it on?

no, the squealing was a belt, i tightened the tensioner and it was fine, but yes, i did have a lower rpm, i didnt think that it could have been anything i did though, because i followed the instructions in the fsm. i could be wrong though. also, the bearings in the thing melted, and the impeller scratched the inside of the pump, and where it goes on the block. if i did do something wrong, what can i do to ensure i dont do it again?

I don't see any way you could have contributed to the pump failure, it was just a bad pump.
