ive had my black versa sl for about a week and a half and have been pulled over twice by cops driving at night. My friends warned me against getting a black car cause its a cop magnet and im starting to regret my color, but hopefully its just bad luck since ive recieved no tickets. the cops in toronto atleast in my neighborhood have this stereotype against young people driving black cars and think theyre up to no good by possibly carrying ilegal substances , aka ganja, aka my versa;s been searched twice. ladies and gents with black versa's drive prepared.

That's pretty funny. At least you haven't been ticketed, though.

does you state law say that cops can search your car without a warrant?if it does, then you're ****ed. it'll probably happen again.if it doesn't you can get their badge number and have them reported.some cops refuse to give their names, that's illegal. get them for that.they MUST give their name and badge number if requested.also, ask what district they work in and all that other junk.that's harrasment. they can't search your car for no reason.and suspicion is not a good reason.

toronto's actually a city in the province of ontario in canada, so there is no state law, however as you may know marijuana usage and posession in canada is much more relaxed than in the u.s. Having said that, they dont search my car, but when they see me driving home at 1 or 2 am from the night club and my car is black they are very tempted to pull me over. But i like black, iw ouldnt change it for any other color so the 5'0 can go scew himself.

That sucks dude, just remember that cops pull people over lots of times out of bordome. Try to put yourself in the cops shoes, its late at night , you see a hot black hatch , and you havent talked to anybody in 2 hours....Just remember to always be respectfull ( yes sir, no sir. ) and never get cocky or challenge their authority. Cops are worse than high school teachers when it comes to power trips..9 times out ot 10 it can be a fairly quick and painless routine stop, especially if you have done nothing wrong.

BTW : Do you have aftermarket rims or exhaust?

The versa im driving right now is actually the dealerships car in which they lent me on a temporary basis until my black versa sl arrives in about 3 weeks. (so no aftermarket parts or rims)

Weird. Here the "train of thought" is that red cars are cop magnets...

hah, red cars here are insurance hike magnets. Red cars here instantly increase the cost of your insurance, so do coupes and engines about 2 litres.

I read a survey a while back that stated that red cars are pulled over more than any other color.

I have a black one and no issues. 3500 miles, most at night, never pulled over, yet.

Apparently silver isn't a problem. I just passed 2 black out cops off the side of the road going about 75 in a 60 in my truck and neither one bothered about pulling me over. It was dark so I didn't see them until we had passed them.

I've always heard that cops easily catch red and yellow cars because they appear to go faster since they are more noticeable. I've also been told that those people who drive yellow and red cars pay more in insurance. My agent told me that it's not true. Low end cars in bright colors won't pay more for insurance. Sportier cars do pay more for their colors because they are way more attractive than the low ends.

you'd better be careful about getting pulled over in the dealers car..

Why on earth would you consent to a search? I used to have a black Mustang 5.0 with big rims and lowered, limo tint windows, fast, loud as sin. I used to get pulled over about ever 6 weeks for fun I guess. It didn't help that I was 19 and a hothead at the time.

This is how it would go down....EVERY time...Officer: Can I see your license, registration and proof of insurance.Me: hands him thoseOfficer: Mind if I take a look in the car?Me: Yes, I do mind.Officer: Why do you have something to hide?Me: No.Officer: Then you won't mind me looking through your car.Me: Yes, I would mind.Officer: Why do you have something to hide?Me: No, but unless you have a warrant you have absolutely no right to search my car.Officer: It sounds like you have something to hide.Me: Nope, but I know my rights and unless you have a warrant you are not searching my car or my person. If you insist on searching my car Office (read their name tag), my first call will be to the ACLU and then to your commander. Officer: [Hands back license.] Have a nice day, drive safe.

I don't know how it is in Canada, you might be SOL. LOL

Here in Canada we're just too darned polite to say no. I mean, if the nice officer went to all that trouble to pull me over and then he wants to see how roomy my Versa is then I'll invite him inside where we can both finish our Tim Hortons coffee together.

Well, what have you been pulled over for?

Liscense plate, registration, speeding? There has to be a reason.

9/10 times a cop will say "Do you know why I stoppped you?" right when he gets to your window.

I have a black car. However, I have found that my speed catches a cops attention more than the color of my car does. Maybe Canada is different??? Still sucks none the less.

I have also found that when I do get pulled over multiple times, it usually happens within the same month or two, and sometimes on the same road. Then I don't get pulled over for a year or two. Try driving on different roads that what you usually do, that might help.

I was pulled over once in my black V, but it was for speeding, the cop didn't mention the color of my car.

I think maybe that's because the color of the car does not matter...

...

...maybe...

Same here. I've only been pulled over and received a ticket twice. I was pulled over twice within 15 minutes in Mississippi. I guess there's nothing else to do that early in the morning. I was doing a little bit of speeding on a road trip. The color of my car was green. After that, I slowed down.....well until I got out of the state. I didn't get another ticket after that.

When cops ask me questions, I get stupid.

You know why I pulled you over = NoYou know how fast you were going = I'm not sure, I've been focused on the traffic ahead.

It seems to work, although rarely do I get pulled over
