Hello all, I just joined this morning and this forum seems cool. Just wanted to tell everyone that at noon today I will be picking up my new '93 240sx SE Coupe.

Eventualy the goal is Silvia front end/motor swap. but thats a year or so away..I got an extra $250 with the loan and I wanna do something to it immediatly. What do you guys/girls reccomend doing for $250 that will make the most improvement? What brands are the best to get?

Thanx for the help and I look forward to posting here more.

(I posted this in the main forum but was told this would be the place to get the info)-daniel

Why don't you save the $250 to put to the motor swap. cause most of the stuff you use i.e. intake, will be useless when you do a motor swap. Also, you might run into problems when you get the motor, bad turbo or disintegrated clutch.

Welcome to the boards, and congrats on the new car. Dont spend the money on aftermarket performance (engine) like he said. Personally, i would take that 250 and give it a real good tune up, your buying a 10 year old car and you probably dont know how well it was maintained. Get stuff like plugs, plugs wires, change fluids, etc. The money spent will be worth it. Anyhow, thats just my opinion.

noooo man, be responsible. spend the money on refreshing the motor you have up a little bit. new plugs, all new fluids, belts, seals where they're needed.... also you'll need a bunch of money for tax and title and registration and plates and and and and.... you'll see.

Yea dude, i agree, first off you should just go through everyting and replace things that need to be replaced. if you are planning on doing an engine swap in a year or less than i wouldnt do any aftermarket mods to it, just save your money. But if it is going to be a while, (like it ushually is) and you want to do something, you should upgrade the suspension, and other things on the body, because you will always have those, unlike the motor. if you really want to do something to the motor, definately intake, exaust, plugs, wires first.

Thanx for the tips...

Since it will be over a year before I can even start to think about an engine swap, I was thinking about upgrading the intake. I know when I had my Integra I felt an improvement when I replaced the stock filter with the APC cheapo cold air intake. The motor also sounded nicer.

I guess Im just wondering if the factory air filter system is constricting. My buddy co-owns a shop but he dont know much about Nissans (I live in a town full of Civics and Neons :( ). He has an AEM Short Ram Intake thats been sitting on display in his shop for months that he will give to me for no more than $100. But will that be worth the $100 or will I see no difference whatsoever?

Got it taken care of..its included in the loan.

I guess I've just had a little too much exposure to all of these rice boys around here. Thats why I got rid of the 'teg. I wanna know what I can do that actually improves the car itself and not just the image.

Looks like Im gunna get some real help in this forum. Seems like you guys know your stuff.

an intake will make your engine sound better, mine made a deeper sound, and give you a little more hp. i have a hotshot and it works good. also injen makes a really good intake.

Get a Factory Service Manual from ebay. Then get a used intake or a used pulley. Used stuff is the way to go.

Forget all that other crap until you have an FSM and a good set of tools. Then tune it up. Start with a good running engine, that is worth more than any intake or exhaust.

yes, go with some of these ideas. get an FSM, make sure this motor is in tiptop shape, and then if you want, save a lil more money and get a nice catback exhaust to go along with the motor you will eventally get. you won't wanna run boost with small piping.

I really appriciate all of the help you guys are giving me all ready. First things first...I gotta get new headlights..these stock yellowish bulbs are killing me when Ive had Hyper whites in my teg for the past 3 years. I have yet to find any..other than the Ultra White halogens at wal-mart for $17.99 a piece. Any clue where I can get some..any websites sell them for cheap?

I will check up on that Injen intake and see how much my buddy can get it for me..(cool thing about having a buddy who ownz a shop...I get most of my parts at cost!!!)

I dont know how many of you have the heads up speedometer display on yours...but I didnt even know that it existed!!! How did I ever live without it! LOL

Well time for me to go install my cd player in my new car.Peace

hmm... headlights are your first mod... hmm... sounds a little ricey to me. Tools would have been a good idea, or just fix the engine well enough to last you the year. Whatever, its your car. edit: Oh, and welcome.

If he's putting in new lamps because he can't see, that's not rice, that's a noble attempt to get his arse home in one piece after dark. Besides, big jon, fiznat, and daniel all agree, go through and fix what needs fixin. Other than that, The Ryno throws a welcome to the Brand neubian

Well I got alot done today.

I got my CD player installed and hooked to the front speakers(rears arent working for some reason...gotta check the wireing). Searched around for other things that needed replaceing. Need to go to call up some junk yards and see if anyone has an S13 cause my dome light cover is missing. I went to wally-world and bought some lights for my dome, and my brake lights that went outI also bought the Halogen Super Whites. They were cheaper than I thought $13.99!! They arent as clear and as bright as Im used to...but they sure as heck look a ton better and brighter than those dinky faded yellowish $6 lights. The engine is working great! Im thinking next thing we do...Window tint. The leather on the top of the back seats has a couple of tears at the seams. The tint will keep it from getting any worse and I will try to find someone who can repair it for a decent price.

thanks for the welcomes you guys...I am deffinatly gunna stick around here for advice and chat. You guys seem alright by me!

Oh yeah...Shes already getting looks and complements everywhere I go!!! I guess I need to name her now...But what to call her...
