alright so i finally got everything i needed for my freshly built KA24DE and was wondering what brand name, kind, and size of oil should i run first when im breaking it in.

i will be breaking it in with a SR t25 (old turbo set-up).is there anything i need to know since im breaking it in with a turbo or should i just go with the same procedure?

i heard little something about break-in oil but then didnt really look into it. should i use break-in oil?

i know the break in procedure and not to use synthetic oil for break in.

http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm

also should i clean out my gas tank and get some new gas since my car has been sitting outside for a good 6 months?

is there is anything i should know that i didnt mention?if yes let me know.

thanks in advance NICO!

I just followed the moto tune usa procedure and it worked out fine. I used the cheapest oil i could find (autozone 10w40). I dont think moto covered this but, when you first start the car you need to change the oil after about 10min of running before you go do the break-in run.

As far as the gas goes i would top her off with some fresh gas and just make sure you timing is spot on (distributor) or even pull a degree or two just to make sure the bad gas doesnt bite you.

The cheapest oil you can get in the proper weight at first. You're going to want to change it pretty quickly a few times at first.

10w40 should be fine. Like was said before, you're going to want to change it pretty quickly just to be safe. I'd start to up and let it idle for a little while to make sure everything is okay, then change the oil and take it for a drive. Then between 500 and 1000 miles, change it again with better stuff, assuming your not running really rich or having any problems.

Which is why you get cheap stuff!

4-5 quarts to start it up. 4-5 to drive for up to 1K miles, and then 4-5 of better stuff for the next 3K+ depending on your driving habits.

10w40 is all you need for brake in. When I started my built motor I used the 6-7 month old gas in the tank with no problem but am sure adding some fresh gas cant hurt.

You could always drive on one oil change for the first 500 miles or so. I highly highly doubt anything negative would happen.

The only important thing is to change the oil if you run rich. Like, very very rich for some time at idle, not just rich when hitting the go-pedal.

i used walmart brand (supertech) oil 10w40 and changed my oil in these intervals: first start and idle for 10 min, 100 miles, 250 miles, 500 miles, 1000 miles, then every 2500 miles. my car also runs sorta rich so i change it every 1500 to 2000 miles. i only changed filters 3 times though: 100 miles, 500miles, then every scheduled oil (2500 miles).

as long as an SM rated oil is used you are fine, supertech is a great choice IMHO, IIRC it is a mobile1 product...

anywho why did you just waste 5~10 bux on that shyt, after being told by VERY reliable sources to use the cheapest **** you can find go back and get the cheap stuff.... use the precious valvoline later please not synthetic!

It was only $1 difference so it wouldnt hurt. and of course i know not to use fullly synthetic, the one i got was just regular conventional oil 10W40 so i guess i'll be good. thanks for all the help guys.

not yet the engine is still out of the chassis.i ran into a little trouble with the stock engine mounts.that peice of sheit wont unscrew and i think i strip the bolts holding it.can i cut it off?

i use penatrating oil on it and let it sit overnight and it still wouldnt unscrew

If you striped it then yes your going to have to get nasty with it. That happened to my buddy's car and he had to use the torch to cut it out.
