Ordered it thismorning, complete with box, sensor, and digital display.

touch me. I know you want to.

I spent more than i should and it'll postpone the turbo install by about another month, but i think in the long run i'll thank myself.

I figure with the wideband, i really dont need my A/F ratio meter anymore, nor do i need fuel pressure or EGT for that matter, but i think i'll keep my EGT gauge

A/f gauge > EGT gauge. keep the af, ditch the egt.

I thought the wideband fed it's signal to the A/F gauge?

i decided to go ahead and keep both anyways.

I dont THINK that wideband sensors use the same voltage range as regular o2 sensors, making an off-the-shelf A/F gauge and a wideband o2 sensor incompatible, but don't quote me on that.

Instead of having an A/F gauge, i'll have an easy-to-read number telling me my exact A/F ratio at any given time

Yep, wideband and regular 02 (narrowband) use totally different voltages and technologies. How much did you purchase the unit for and what kind of wideband does it use (Bosch LSU or NTK) ??

Is it a techedge? I've got version 1.5. It can do narrowband simulation - which means you can ditch the stock 02. Narrow band runs on 0-1V range, wideband on 0-5V range. I have not tried the narrowband simulationI would keep the EGT too. When used in conjunction with the wideband, you can get a decent idea of how timing is effecting your engine.

thanks for the EGT tip. Yeah, its a 1.5 I'll have to look into the narrowband simulatin thing, though I dont mind running 2 because it would be easier to help friends tune their cars if i can just remove it, plug up the hole and drive off.

im thinking of getting a wideband since i will be doing my own tuning once i get my turbo. where are some places u guys bought urs? ive been searching around and have seen prices of up to $1000 which is way out of my price range. do u think i could get a complete wideband set-up w/ sensor and display for 400-500 bucks?

on that web page they have a DIY kit, would that be everything u need but it comes with the board, resistors, capacitors, chips, etc unassembled? if so i would have no problem soldering the board together.

yeah, i think so. i think the new one comes with the PCB board or whatever the hell you call it, making it pretty easy

nice that will save me a ton of money! i prolly wont get a wideband until late august earliest, but if i have no problem assembling the wideband, ill ask if anyone on the forums wants me to assembly the DIY kit for them for cheaper. ill prolly post about this after i get the set-up in a couple months.

AEM just came out with a wideband unit w/o the display utilizing the Bosch LSU 4 O2 sensor for around $400 including sensor and control unit. This is another affordable option besides the techedge unit considering how the prices of NTK sensors have skyrocketed. All this unit needs is a display unit and you are all set.

You might want to get the NTK L1H1 5-wire Oxygen sensor before you buy a WB 02 board.

The 5-wires oxygen sensor will be the most expensive parts for the whole DIY. NAPA have it for $330.

Is low in stock world wide. Good luck :)

well u could pay 400 w/o display but im thinking bout going with the DIY techedge when version 2.0 comes out. thats $110 for the kit + $100 for the bosch LSU sensor + ill prolly get a cheap palm pilot to view it for bout $100 so its prolly bout $320 shipped w/ a cool palm pilot to look at. not bad

u mean the actual sensor or the O2 sensor unit? Units are pretty much universal but u have to check with the unit ur using to see which O2 sensors will work with that specific unit.

Wideband <-- there are 2 oxygen sensors ( to I know ) in this world that able to do wideband. NTK ( or re-badge Borch/Echilin) L1H1 and Borch LSU.

If you are using "normal" oxygen sensor, which is a narrowband, save yourself some money, and get a $30 A/F gauge. Narrowband oxygen sensor don't give you accurate A/F ratio.

Widebands are used primarily for tuning of the air/fuel ratio. It's pretty much standard these days to have one in order to tune an engine properly.

Are you going to use it in turbo 240 ?If you going to stay n/a, you spent too much $$ to get a wideband.

Ver. 2 should be out sometime this month (July) according to TechEdge's order page.
