actuially if the CEL is on you won't get vtec either if the car has it

Also if you disconnected all the transmission wires his reverse lights won't come on either.

(my last car was a 91 CRX HF with B16 it went 14.3@97 with the motor and literaly nothing else at Hattesburg MS)

oah and for all you guys that say vtec doens't do anything i went 15.7 with the vtec solenoid unplugged same track same day same car.

This is not true I run my 00 gsr with the cel on all the time (cat. problem) and I still have vtec. It really depends on what the cel code is, check the code the car is showing.

well im not worried about the vtec, cuz it doesn't have it anyway, im just worried about any mechanical problems that the car might have from not getting any feedback from the disconnected speed sensor and its got a straight pipe anyway, and 1 more thing wats a cel?

 negative side-disconnecting any mileage counter is illegal under any circumstances-but on the mechanical side with the check engine light on-depending on how the pcm interrperits the information it could cause the car to run either extremely rich or extremely lean at times-causing damage to various sensors and moving parts-in short it is not advisable to disconnect any sensors-they are there for a reason

yah B16A I'm ROBCRXB16 over at ClubSI i don't post there much anymore...

And the speed sensor in a honda doesn't cause the car to run ritch or lean or anything... it just tells the car it is moving and how fast... unless the car is an auto nothing bad can happen... The Fuel Calculations come from the MAP and the TPS and the O2 sensor... Coolant temp plays a factor before warmup also...

** edit**

been a while sence i read this post...yah if it's an auto it probilby won't shift right... if it does there is still the automatic load detection... don't know what it does but i think it's important (other than whats in it's name)...

I think he should reconnect it caust that is a dishonorable thing to do... however i just can't say exactuially how important it is on an automatic... My educated guess tells me that if the car runs and shifts fine.. and kicks down properly then it should be ok. But i have no experence with honda automatics.
