Well to my delight the kickplates arrived today I couldn't help but start the install immediately...Package came in as i expected...bubble wrap, tight. Great Packing.

Im an electrician by trade, and I wanted as close to a professional installation as possible. The instructions and pictures on the site were a big help...

Here i used terminal blocks to make my connections (wire nuts are good, but IMHO terminal blocks are more secure)

I also chose to not run the cables to the center console and share power, i decided to have them individually powered by their own door lights.

Tie wraps and sticky backs were a must to have a secure way of supporting the wires...

I cut into the middle of the wire/foam as to have plenty of room to work with on either end...and once again secured with another terminal block.

And now the finished product...It's more pink than red...but WOW I still Love it!!!Thank you Doc!!! This is a great Product, and to all of you that couldn't walk the walk, when all you did was talk the talk...ahh i'll just let the pictures speak for themselves!!!

yeah, EL tape only comes in VERY limited colors... tha Red is the only Red my vendor sells (called international red)... the only other option would be to order white lights and use trnasparent Red tape... but the light doesn't shine nearly as bright this way... why you gotta rain on my parade

I actually found a way to do it even cleaner than on the directions... I pulled the black/red power /grpund wire through the insulated material hlding the factory wires, thus ut doesn't come through the hole for the 6.5" speaker... well, I did that on Blake's car...

anyway, the good thing about this install is that, if done correctly, the wires are completely invisible and it looks pretty darn OEM!

why did you pull the wiring out through the speaker gap? may have issues there if the speaker is securely tightened. I fished mine through where all the rest of the wires came through so I dont get interference or issues with wires wearing out due to the edge of that speaker. I recommend taking off your door and fixing that...

If you don't fix this you risk having your kickplates lose electricity, short circuit your vehicle's electrical system, and even start a possible car fire.

iunderstand what you're saying, but the insulation on that 16 gauge wire is pretty thick.. so thick that 16 gauge splce connectors had a hard time getting into it .... the pressure from where the speaker grill would be pressing on that is not sharp enough to pierce that thick wire insulation...

but to be safe, I did wire Blake's the way you just mentioned, and that's also how I will be wiring Daniel's tomorrow!

Aye, I hear ya doc, but as they say, better safe than sorry. Only takes 5 min to pop the door off anyway. I gotta tell ya, I am getting compliments all over the place for my kickplates!

honestly dude, the more I look at them, the more I really like them... and at night.... ohhhh .... I've gotten nothing but love and compliments from evryone that's ever seen them... then I have to hit them with the bad news when they ask if I'll make them some! Hey, they even won your wifey over, so that's all that matters!

Will do so, i actually had already planned to go back into the door and check on that speaker i popped a hole in, also my neighbor was telling me about some sort of insulation placed on the backside of speakers...they allow the bass to not get lost? Anyone hear of this?

I need help with the location of the xm sat tuner, will start a new thread and post pics as to where i have already looked...
