'Aight so, I'm about to redo my dash/pods with LEDs, and I figure while I've got everything torn apart I'll make the ring around my ignition switch illuminate as well, but I can't find any info on it. I know people have done this before, but I just cant find anything. Does anyone know the process?

Help is much appreciated.

You can use the same type of LED bulb that is used with the turn signals. No soldering, just pull out the old bulb and put in the LED

Alright, kool, soon as I can figure out the bulb type and locate a sufficient replacement, and I suppose afford all the LEDs I'll write it up and post a few pics of the results.

Yeah bro looks great! I should be getting the LEDs and resistors for the pods within the next few days. It will cost me somewhere in the area of about $20 +\-.

As far as the dash and ring go, who did you go through for the bulbs, and what size/number is the ignition ring?

BTW I think I'm going to do the pods in red to match the rest of my color scheme, has anyone seen how it looks in red yet?

This isn't a difficult upgrade? I see that BaiThaBay has a kit and he does the PODs for you. Everything is $90 (this includes ignition ring, dome light, plate light, ash tray, gauges, and pods.

No one really responded to my last comment.

I've read that you can just buy some resistors and bulbs, but I was wondering if going for the kit people sell is a wiser choice? I want to make sure I get a wide spread of light to make it look proper.

Is it easy to screw something up while taking the driver's dash apart such that it won't fit back correctly?

the number i used for the ignition ring was the same as for the turn signals i think number 74 bulbs. As for screwing something up..... I did this project when i first got the car and knew absolutely nothing, and it turned out great. Just make sure you don't tighten the screws down to hard in the plastic.

I did my pods and gauges too but for some reason my gauges are not as bright as anyone elses. The dimmer works and the pods are really bright but for some reason the gauges themselves are not as bright as they sould be. Anyone else have this issue or maybe a suggestion of what could be gonig on?

For the POD bulbs, did you have to solder them? How about all the rest? Do you just swap out the oem bulb with a LED bulb?

Well, I've done a little research before posting this (trying to find stuff on ignition ring) and from my understanding the dash is cake on install/removal. The dash I know there are LED wedge based bulbs that fit directly into the old bulb housing (no soldering, just remove, then reinstall). The PODs are probably the easiest, you simply replace stock bulb with a 3mm led and attach a resistor to the negative lead (shorter leg), then re-install the base and your done.

As for dude with the dim LEDs I've read on that too, but all I can find is the fact of high quality LED use, but IDK which brand/company has the best or what ones you've used, but I've seen the best are the W-LED 5LED wedge base #194 from http://www.Superbrightleds.com.

BTW @ reptile : What color LEDs did you use, are those just straight blue or like some kind of super white?

Either way, I may have to hold of on this for a while, 'cause I'm currently broke but I will post pics with before/after, and state exactly what LEDs I've used and were to get them.

While we are on the topic of the ignition thing. Does anyone know where I can get one of the illumination assembly things? I am missing it. (I can tell something used to be there)

Nice setup. I am wondering on the left pod how did you get the light at the very bottom on. I cannot get mine to work. I have noticed on the back of the pod there is a small flat connector but there is no wire to go to it. Maybe, the previous owner had it replaced and did not get the right pod.

Also, does anyone have a detail of the bulbs needed to complete the inside. Like the bulb size for the illum. ring, hazard button, dome light, ash tray, and the clock.

Well' my wifes 2000 I30 ignition ring went out so I replaced the bulb (tried 3) but it will not light up. Anyone had anything wrong other than the burnt bulb or knows were the wires to the lighted ring leads too? Fuse panel or door lamp switch I assume?
I threw it back together as it was 3am and have'nt tore into it again yet. I made sure the little wires on the bulbs I tried out were contacting but notta...All my bulbs work when tested directly to a battery, gotta wire
issue I guess? Thanks
