its says that they fail emission if they are modified to increase noise level.

technically most people would be ok then, i know i didnt put mine on to increase noise level, i put it on to increase exhaust air-flow. noise increase is just a side-effect

maybe they should word that a bit differently.

This is not a Cali 95-dB law. This says that if your exhaust is aftermarket and is louder than stock, you fail. I really don't know any aftermarket exhausts that don't increase the sound level. This is scary legislation pointed directly at our hobby. I hope that SEMA gets something in the courts going to stop this.

This is COMPLETE bs!!! I have a loud exhaust ticket I have to deal with on Friday. I was looking over the current law and there might be a loop hole due to the wording of the law. I'll let you all know how it goes so maybe I could save some of you fellow IL residents some tickets.

It is amazing how when the sport compact trend really starts to take off, the government does everything they can to stop it.

They should just be happy everyone isn't still driving around carburated v8's.

People here in FL would be ****ed.... Seriously, there was an old school muscle car next to me at the light with like 20" slicks and wheelie bars on the back. It was loud enough at idle that I couldn't hear my stereo.

Maybe they should do something about harley bikes. Those are about 10 times louder than my car. I guess I don't have to worry about that now we don't even have emmsions yet.

Try living here in Daytona during Bike Week when there are 400,000 of them driving around town.

damn... that really is a load of crap...

I guess you have to keep your stock exhaust and put that on whenever you go for emission..

Has the law passed? There's probably hope still if it hasn't. Crap like this usually gets shot down from the get-go. Surprised it made it to the Senate.

You know they also tried attacking California's rolling exemption?

Yeah, that's pretty vague. I wonder if they're specifically talking about the "whistle" exhausts ( i don't know the exact name) but you can literally hear them from over a mile away. I've heard/seen a couple of them and they were quiet annoying.

"with a muffler or exhaust system that clearly has been modified to amplify or increase the noise of the vehicle. "

To mean that reads exhausts only modified to increase noise. How would you prove that it's modified to amplfy noise (unless it's got some noise maker bs on it) or if increased noise was a side-affect. It's a little vague and I doubt it'd get passed with that wording.

Tell me about it. I live right on the beack here 45 min. from daytona. During bike week all you hear is loud bikes and you can't go anywhere. It is so loud though, not even comparable to any aftermarket exhaust on an import. If these jerks came and sat on the sidewalk right in front of my house, during bike week, or in the house for that matter, they would think twice I kinda think its gonna be like that everywhere sooner or later, with the no exhaust thing, but i hope the law doesn't pass or that would suck. C-rad where do u live in daytona??
