i need to smog my car but dont have $300 to spend on the knock sensor and a new catalytic converter. does any onw know where i can get a illegal smog check?

Not trying to be an azz as the regulations in CA are nuts (and going to get worse) but you should follow the rules like all the other good Cali sheeple

This thread will be closed since it is dealing with illegal activities. A cat converter and a knock sensor is like nothing. Find a used cat and knock sensor for like 100 bucks.

Post up your smog results. There is stuff you can do to make your car pass the sniffer test. For example if your running rich you can stick denatured alcohol in your gas and that will lean you out a lot. Helped my friends pass the state ref several times.

I normally wouldn't be in favor of something like this but since Cali laws are so dam strict I'll have to agree with shimizu.

You should be able to get used ones for around $100 and there are hundreds of salvage yards in that area. Check car_parts.com .

Thats right huh, well im sure you can find someone to give you a cat converter off a KA or can borrow one for a day. A lot of people have SR's that have no use for them. Im sure you can find a knock sensor for 20 bucks also.

Not trying to say this is a solution, I would just drive as little as possible till you can afford it.

I have friends that drive without registration and insurance, again not condoning their behavior, but honestly you pay attention a whole lot more when you realize how screwed you would be if you hit something or vise versa.

besides. youll honestly pay as much if not more for an illegal place, just do it right.

the problem with you asking for a "friendly smog" is that you claim to not have any money to fix your car, but a friendly costs about 200 bucks according to all the people around here that know somebody that knows somebody, and its been said that you can properly fix your car for less than that.

before i brought my car from the used car dealer they took it to get it smog. and they only paid like $80 for the "friendly smog" but they got shut down like 5 months later .... so now i cant go get it smog there anymore

Your lucky cause all the smog shops in my town will not do friendly smogs regardless of price and yes many of the smog shops are super ghetto looking and run by people who can barley speak english.

To the OP your car would be easy to pass smog, its not like you have a SR in it. Just throw on a new knock sensor and some denatured alcohol along with a used cat you can borrow or find. Passing smog legally is a lot easier and you wont be one of the 240 owners that is not contributing to global warming haha.

Isnt obvious the answer is to be just like them so you can save ... $20? Omg just dont eat lunch for a day or ask your parents, any good parents that dont have the money will shell out $20 so their son's car will be legal.

If someone DID know a spot why would they publicize the info? Then there documentation of their illegal activity on the internet, in addition to the fact that whichever shop gets mentioned will likely be shut down shortly thereafter. Then they can't get their own car done anymore cause they tried to help you.
