Hi,
They are HKS, like the ones shown here:

Where can I find a swap site (besides here) for racing car builders or others who might still use the HKS mufflers?

Thx,
Sustain (Canada and North East USA)

HKS Mufflers are not illegal, they're just f*** hideous to look at. Find a different inspection shop.

OK, I changed to legal OEM mufflers. Will try to sell the HKSs. FYI, any 3 inch exhaust hereabouts will get you a fine. I won't even mention lowering the suspension, window tinting, etc.

But the HKS is a racing exhaust; I never saw the word muffler used to describe them.

The HKS exhaust is certainly not illegal...as long as your noise decibels are not too high and you pass emissions you're good to go. I have them and even if they aren't the best looking exhaust for the 300ZX, they do sound good.

I know a few Z'ers in Montreal without stock exhaust, no issues.

It's the grapefruit-shooter ricer look of the HKS that made your inspector sad pants.

Something like a Borla or SpecialtyZ dual tip would have no problem.

Thanks. I have the official wording on mods, but it's in French. No mention of decibels, so you can't use that argument in court. I guess if the factory invoice showed the mods, I would hire a lawyer! :lolling:

I thought in Canada each province had their own emissions/mod regulations?

Yes, sort of. Quebec banned all sales of JDM vehicles, but parts are still available.
