I just bought a stick-shift 1993 Nissan 240sx. How can I find out if the engine is KA24E or KA24DE or what?

Also, how can I find how much HP my car has? And any other specifications that might be helpful?

Also, a friend of mine told me that my engine looks like a 1996 240sx engine. Is there any way of proving or disproving this?

If you have a '93 then it will have the KA24DE (assuming it's the original engine.)

The HP of the KA24DE, stock, is 155hp. The other specs (torque, weight, and all that jazz) are in the All Motor FAQ's. Search!

All 240's from '91 to '98 came with the KA24DE, so your friend's observation is correct.

I think this stuff is in the 240sx FAQ thing, go look there...

BTW, the KA24DE came in every 240 in America from 1991 until 1998. The KA24E says "2400" on the valve cover and the spark plugs are on the side of the head and not on the top/middle of the head.

You don't have a KA-E

hey everyone, thanks for all the help! i did look in the 240 FAQ (before even signing up to this page), but i'm just a computer nerd with not a lot of car knowledge, so I didn't understand 1/2 of what it said, but i'm trying to learn... i DO know how to use google, but didn't know what to search for... oh, and sorry for the multiple posts...
