So here's my symptoms. The car jumps in and out of the problematic stage. drops about 500rpm and sounds like a damned lawnmower and stinks of gas. Sounds like it is missing. Checked for spark across all 4 coil packs. All get spark but #1. Harnesses for coils are all good. Coil packs are all good. All injectors are pulsing and getting power. When the car is acting up, it loses spark to the #1 coil. The ignitor switch is HOT when the car is acting up. I have heard that this usual means the ignitor switch is bad. I plan on replacing it on my next pay check but I wanted to see if anyone else has ever had the same issue. I will also be looking for an ignitor switch. Is the Q45 the same or do you have to rewire the plugs? Also, does the Suzuki switch work for the SR? I have heard rumors of a recall on the Ignitor Switches from back in the day... Not sure on the time frame. Any help?

I am on the same boat here.

1. How do you test the ignitor is good? I did the FSM procedure but show no continuity anywhere....but when I check for spark its good.

I have a suzuki sidekick ignitor...I am beginning to think it doesnt act the same way as a sr20det.

Can someone confirm that they have used a sidekick ignitor?

check for continuity on both sides of your ignitor and voltage at the ecu for voltage..also check your ecu for codes...not sure of the q45 ignitor, i know you can use one but there may be certain years only..use the search button for that one

get a volt meter to check for continuity..there is a setting on the meter for continuity..you plug the positive in the ignitor power wire and touch the negative to a ground..do the same on the opposite side of the ignitor

do I pull the ignitor chip and touch the tips of the meter leads to the pins?If that is the case I did it...and DO NOT get continutiy anywhere....but I still get spark when cranking.

Sidekick ignitor....guess it doesn't really work.

if i am understanding you correctly you mean pulling the ignitor completely off and testing it? if that is what you mean then you arent going to get anything because it has no power going to it...you leave the ignitor plugged in on both sides and poke the positive needle into the power wire and the negative to a ground (make sure the volt meter is set on continuity) do this on the other side of the ignitor as well..i dont know about all volt meters but mine makes a beep when there is continuity
