ignitor chip prob maybe? please help

ok i have a 89 nissan 240sx with blacktop sr20. and my ecu and harness went bad so i replaced the ecu with the same type witch was a e5 i think cant remeber. and now i have it runing again. it idles great untill the ignitor chip heats up then it pop and back fires, and when i try to drive it it runs like s***, so if any one can please help me. now my buddy that did the harness tested it on another 240 with another 240sx and worked fine. it works fine only thing is the ignitor chip is getten mad hot. i redid the timing 2-3 times and no change. so i got another ignitor chip and it ran great then the chip started to heat up and started acting up. how would i fix this heating up chip prob ??
