Whats up guys... quick backstory, just bought my first 240sx 89 coupe. Ive always loved these cars but when i was young i didnt have enough money to mod one..

now i can. So i picked up this coupe for a very good price off craigslist... 600 bucks. I have alot of work to do on it.. all smog is missing.. like maf sensores etc

alot under the hood looks "hacked" in electrical wise... they installed the altima fans and that looks horrible the way they did the wiring

heres my problem. i took of the steering column cover to take a look at the ignition cylinder cuase i was having problems... i found all ignitin wires cut and joined to the i/s ( a new one i guess) so i took the crappy connections apart and soldered the wires the right way to the i/s. When i first saw these connections the car was on and the wires where very very hot..

now with teh new soldering and the car on the wires are still super hot.. i know they are not supposed to b this hot where they make the electape sticky...

so im thinkin maybe the hacked in something wrong with teh electric fans... and its pulling more amps if they connected it to this circuit... or im missing a ground somewhere... thoughts? i just downloaded the fsm and im tracing circuits now..

keep tracing wiring. as long as you take out all the hacks you will get it. you can unplug the fans and try that. good luck with it

so i was right.. the p/o hacked in the altima fans to a circuit under the hood. as soon as i unhooked those the ignition wires stayed cool. so i did things the right way, i wired up a heavy dudty 30amp relay to the acc circuit.. once its on, it flips the switch to my new power run straight from distribution block with a 20am inline fuse...

i just need to get a thermal switch now to so the fans are not running full blast all time.

now i gotta figure out these brakes... they are very spongy after changing pads and bleeding ... they feel worse
