Alright here is my situation, I bought a new msd sci ignition off a friend and called msd for a diagram and they sent me one. I later found out after i tried to install it that the sci cannot be used with our cars...unless i was told wrong? I just wanted to know if anyone has an msd ignition installed in a 240sx with an internal coil. I think I am going to use the 6al btm but i would like to have some input on it or any other ignitions out there.

We have an internal coil that gets a signal from the ECU and passes it to an infrared eye. You need to find the signal wire coming from the ECU and tap it for the 6 AL.

Ha, Thought the diagram they sent me was no good. The one they sent me has the 2 wires that are on the coil harness being the only ones used. Here is the link to the diagrammsd diagram So if you say that I have to tap into that signal wire, I would do that on the harness for the camshaft position sensor since the 2 wires they told me to use do not emit a signal? I am assuming that you have done this install so maybe you know which wire it would be? Thank you for your help.

Don’t you need an adapter for OBDII?

I swear some one with an OBDII altima had to get a special adapter from MSD

Yes its a tach adapter but it is not always needed but i have it anyways. If you dont have it the tach reads off but the ignition still works. But some 240's don't have problems.

If I where you I would get with MSD by phone and see what they say about a 240 and OBD2.

ok but the tech support over the phone isnt the greatest. Does anyone on this board have a 240 with obdII that has done an msd install on it? If you look in the sept. issue of sport compact car on page 154 there is the 4 steps to turbocharged bliss. It has a picture of a turbo KA motor with the 6al BTM in the engine bay. Apparently this can be done but it seems like the only way I can find out is to contact someone with the install.....I just need to make sure before I fry ignition components.
