Now i'm not trying to cause any trouble here, i'm just trying to find out what's right so i can make sure i have my car set near perfect.

According to the s13 ca18det FSM i downloaded it says that engine idle should be 850 +-50 rpm and timing should be set at 15 +-2 degrees BTDC. It also states that one of the methods to check timing with just a standard timing light is to remove the #1 ignition coil and connect it to the #1 spark plug with a high-tension wire and then to clamp the wire with the timing light.

According to ca18det.org idle speed should be 750 rpm and ignition timing should be 10 degres BTDC. It also says that you can clamp the timing light to the loop of black wire at the back of the coil harness which according to the FSM you should only use a pulse type tachometer to clamp to this loop.

So what's true and what's not? or are both correct because they're from different countries and the cars are tuned differently in their respective countries?
