I got an '03 240k milesTerra with the stock air box mod. Have a p0327 (knock sensor low input) just last week, it stalled then i had crank no start untill the ECT reached under 95°F so about 3-4 hours. Next day it started fine and ran for about 45mins to an hour. Hooked up my scanner and noticed that the Spark Timing Advance was up to 68°! Anyone has any idea of what can be causing this?

mac , I just recently replaced my knock sensor , I had similar symptoms as follows: No CEL, code for knock sensor ,and two other codes which ended up being False positives which corrected when new OEM knock sensor was installed in , I might add the "Top of the engine re-location MOD" due to the fact that sensor is INSIDE intake valley on mine! By measuring with multimeter the "Componant Tests" in FSM - only knock sensor tested Bad ,it was"infinity" or an Open CKT - "Blown " in other words. To your main point was MY TIMING WAS 30 deg. BTDC (base) !!! Sposed to be 15 +- 2 deg. BTDC. Waaay advanced like what you got.Try going for a NEW OEM one ,good luck.
