A great resource for Nissan Sentra, Infiniti G20, 200sx, Pulsar, NX1600, NX2000, Tsuru, Primera and Sunny owners.

I broke the key off inside the ignition. Took it to a locksmith who extracted the key and reassembled the igntion. Now the airbag and seat belt lights will not go out, and the security system does not work. He claims that is not his problem and he can't do anything about it.

They worked before I took it to him. Ideas? Suggestions?

What year/model and do you have the vehicle immobilizer system? (I think it came with the other security, so you should, look for a blue rectangle on the plastic part of the key right next to where the metal portion sticks out)

If you have the immobilizer, you need to have your keys coded to function properly.

Other than that, not sure what else it could be.

OOps!! Sorry. Forgot to include that info.

1994 G20 4 door. There is no security/immobilizer system that is related to the key. Just a plain old metal key. What there is (or was I should say) was a light that would flash "security" on the left side of the dash when the car was locked. If one should try to open the door without the key, an alarm sounds which can only be deactivated by unlocking the door with the key.

Now none of it works, no lights, no alarm no nothing. The lights indicating a problem with the airbag as well as the "fasten seatbelt" sign continue to stay on when the car is running. None of these things were a problem prior to the key breaking off inside the ignition and the lock guys repairing it.

I took it back to the key shop and they said they didn't do anything with the electronics and that all they did was extract the key and fix a "wafer" inside the lock which is why the key broke off in the first place. In other words.....they have no intention of doing any more work on this.

And now........the radio and the interior lights will not work. Clearly some sort of electrical fubar has happened. Checked all the fuses....everything intact and none blown.

Now what? All help or suggestions gratefully accepted. I suspect that I will have to take it in and have a tech stick it on the computer to diagnosis it at this point?
