Whats up guys. I have a question. My 240 is running pretty rich. When I get into it I get a nice stream of sooty smoke. Everything seems to run fine and I have good response. What can I do other then what I have done to fix this problem? With the mods I have done do you think its time to run somekind of fuel management? Or might I fix this with a new fuel pressure regulator. I have a Pace Setter header, 2.5 cat back, MSD Blaster 2 (thought it might help but didnt) stock intake tube with a cone filter, Fidanza flywheel, Walbro 255, and aluminum underdrive pullies, stock injectors. I've replaced the coolant sensor, and the pcv valve. Thanks.

the only thing that i really question is on the o2 sensor, apparenlty it sat on the old exhause mani for a while and melted. it looks like someone stripped it back where it stopped and just ran a single wire with a regular connector. maybe its not getting any signal? what's the resistance for the o2 supposed to be ill check it this week i guess.

that could do it

even if the o2 is bad the car should have had some of the memory when it worked.....

however you say this happens when you get into it(past half throttle?),if yes, welcome to ka richness hell.lol you can try the old add a ground wire trick but I dont think it will help you out much, the blaster coil is better for those higher rpm when the coil has less time to fire. The relay trick would help out some too but it only take 25000 volts to fire the coil so its all you really need, they do help with smooth idle.

If you have that walbro on a wornout factory fpr that could make you run richer then what the ka wants to with stock pump,I've had my megan afpr up to 80psi with walbro, when stock would poo out around 59~61psi. Also after installing the walbro I had to retune my fuel map,as it was even richer then with stock pump. If you would like to get into ecu tuning there's an AWSOME site that can more or less teach you how to diy. Even has a tune that would benefit you it looks like, FREE,although you will NEED a wideband before you do any tuning. link http://www.hybridka.com ftw

thanx a lot i really appreciate the help. i was thinking that it was probably a combination of problems. I guess Ill try to narrow it down a bit more. I do think its time for a new fpr, i have an aftermarket 1 but it was an ebay special.. no instructions and i dont think it will work with my fuel rail. As for everything else, I figured it was about time to do something about my a/f ratio. Was wondering on the wideband. I dont want to do too much though cause I have a 91 DE that im going to build and turbo. Cant eat up funds on my everday thing.
