I checked out my ride just a minute ago. I have no spark and the distributer cap is in good condition. Any ideas?

No spark at all the plugs? Distributor pick-up might be bad...Motor cranks, just doesn't fire? I'd say it's one of 2 things...Distributor or starter solenoid. You can rule out the solenoid by testing it...basically, you run a wire from the post that goes to the distributor, have someone crank the motor, and hold it next to something grounded. You see spark (or feel it...do be careful doing this), solenoid is good...then you can look into the distributor. The starter solenoid is controlled by the ignition switch. Basically, it routes 12v to the starter to crank it over, and another post routes it to the distributor....Lemme know if I can help anymore

The motor does spin over. It's definitely not the starter soleniod. I just get no spark at the plugs. It tries to start up but nothing. It just spins over and over with occasional sputter. can the ignition control and coil be replaced seperetely from the distributor? I know they can be on most vehicles.
