My Infiniti 2004 M45 wont start. I replaced the rear tail light housing as it was broken. I turned on the ignition and the car started. I checked the signal lights all working. All was fine. I turned off the car key still in the ignition and covered the trunk with the carpet and stuff. There are 3 wired coming out in the trink.

I don't know what it is, but i concealed it under the carpet as it was before and closed the trunk. I saw the front head lights were weird.

One headlight was on the other was not. I removed the key from the ignition and then put it back again in the ignition. Both the lights are coming on. AS soon is i turn the key to start the car, i hear a continues clicking noise as if some one hitting an iron pillar with a spoon. And the car wont start.

All the lights in the console and the cabin comes on so i am assuming its not the battery. If some one can please let me knw what could be the problem, that would be great. Thanks in advance.

I would hook it up to a charger and recharge it, or at least go for a 1 hour highway speed drive to recharge it. If it is the original battery, it may be giving you its first early warning sign it is nearing the end of its life- get it checked out before you get stranded---at night--in the rain---far from home.

As you now know a discharged batt can still provide enough juice to power the lights, seats, stereo etc and yet not have adequate current to crank the engine.

Think about the little trickle of juice required to run an appliance (lights, seats, etc) and then consider how much juice is required to spin an electric motor strong enough to spin a high compression V8. If that doesn't make any sense, look at the diameter of the wire to the starter as compared to the wire to any other item on the car. Capiche? It's Joey Buttafuke-in night and day.

Probably a good opportunity to clean your posts and connectors so they shine. It takes about one nanocron of corrosion to interfere with starting.
