Here with '96Q that the key FOB does not work but original key has been working fine until this morning.(Note, using key in truck sets off the alarm, but not the doors)... For no reason after entering the car, I could not get the key to enter the ignition. Pressed button next to ignition, no movement. So manually locked doors, then unlocked the doors, pressed brake, Tried to move shifter but not moving. Still no luck.
Then all of a sudden the key would go in and the Q started.
Never had this issue. Issues with the FOB in past, but not using it because is doesn't respond and infiniti service was not able to get it to work months ago with previous FOB issue.
Not looking forward for this to happen randomly . Any thoughts.
Owned since new with all service and lots more.
Thanks

You physically couldn't get the key to insert into the opening in the switch? I'm pretty sure there's no mechanism that would lock you out of it, but I could be wrong. I suspect some graphite lock lubricant might fix your problem... my locksmith likes WD40 for wafer locks (like the ones in our Qs) but I have a hard time recommending it for anything other than loosening seized bolts.

Yep, physically could not put the key in, Not even a fraction of a centimeter. So I thought possibly battery is dead which made no sense , so i turn on the top ceiling light button to see if battery is totally dead. Light came on so I tried the key again and it slid right in. Some coincidence!!!! . Not a clue what happened in that few second time period. This car is getting more interesting as I hold on to it, 20 years AND Still loving it.
