Ignition key up and broke in half

I went to put the key in the door lock and it broke in half. as I was starting to insert it. Luckily it didn't break off in the lock, and again luckily I had made a duplicate that luckily I had with me, as it was pouring rain and I really wouldn't have liked to be locked out of my car. I guess after 197,000 miles on the car that key had probably been used 20,000 times and just broke due to the metal wearing thin and metal fatigue.So if you only have one key for your car make a duplicate while you still can.

Nope just go to the dealer and ask for the key code provided you have proof of ownership. With the key code you can make new keys when you have none left.

Never heard of a key breaking at least a Q45 or J30 key at least. I heard that the Q45 keys were made of titanium.

i had my key break just about the same way victor did just the tip and i luckily had a spare also.

My Titanium Key broke about a year ago.Nothing last forever !!!
