Ignition Key Safety Lock, Cnat take key out!!

Hey guys, Im wondering if maybe anyone has a solution to the safety catch behind the ignition. Let me explain.

I bought the car from a friend, but it turns out that someone tried stealing it. they took the little plastic ring from around the ignition. Now when I turn my car off, I have to jam my finger behing the ignition and hit a little lever to have it release me key. Does anyone know how to fix this??? Thanks in advance.

normally that lever has a button connected to it, and to remove your key u just push the button in and you can remove the key.

maybe try going to a junkyard and get that plastic button and reattach it to the lever?

I hope your "friend" remembered to tell you about the attempted theft and vandalism *before* you bought the car.

Anyway, like the other guy said, you just need to get the part with the little button.

If your junkyards are anything like the ones around here, there won't be any 240SXs.

You could try a new part from an online vendor like nissanwholesaleparts.com (look left) or Courtesy Nissan.

You could maybe even see if a contemporary Nissan of another model has a part that'll fit. Maybe that part is used on other Nissans of the time period...it's worth a shot - either it will fit or it won't.
