I was wondering does anybody know how to disable the ignition key lock for the automatic 240sx S13. I want to be able to remove the key when the car is still running and in park or neutral.

Your best bet to figure that out is to read the fsm. The key lock mechanism is a part of the ignition tumbler.

Other than that, you are looking at installation of a remote start.

interestingly I had this problem today while installing my TT.

if you take the plastic covers off of the stearing column and look at your ignition, just behind the black button you have to pres to remove the key, there is a small switch (mine was brown). this has to be in the up position to remove the key. when you turn the ignition on, the switch goes to the down position. you can manualy move the swith up with the car running to remove the key (assuming you have something like my TT to keep the car running). not that I think about it, you might be able to get to the switch just by removing the small plastic bezel that surounds the tumbler, rather than removing the entire stearing column cover.

in any case, I noticed some small (black and red) wires leading to the brown switch, and tried unpluging them. It allowed me to remove the key without having to manualy operate the switch.

I dont know if this is an aoutomatic trans issue only, or if all cars have it. I converted my car from auto to manual when I did my swap.

I'm going to try this too...

Right now my car has a dead battery, and if the battery loses its charge while my keys are inside theyre stuck in the tumbler until I get the jump box. Pain in the arse.

Appreciate the tip
