Ignition issues

ok so heres the deal.Purchased my 1992 nissan 240sx from a guy who had replaced the KA24DE engine with the KA24E (what the hell?) anyway... im having difficulty starting the engine. The engine will NOT turn over if I just sit there and crank the engine, however if I FULLY press the gas pedal the engine comes to life no problem. The fuel pump noise is observed so im not sure what it could be? another thing is im not sure if this is true of all KA's but the exhaust does smell a little rich when one places ones hand near the exhaust and takes a whif afterwards.

you know what happens when you step on the gas while starting? it goes into clear flood mode.

so if you combine the clear flood mode and rich smell on your exhaust. what is it? :P

I'm not all that certain thats why I am asking, could it be fuel ingector or spark plug issues?

it could be:

your injector spray pattern is not the proper atomized mist. like a water faucet a/f doesnt properly mix when compressed and soaks the spark plugs. this would cause a lot of unburn gas thats why you have the rotten smell.

or you have high fuel pressure or leaky injector like a slightly opened pintle, overly way too riched soaks the plugs.

i feel light headed today, inhaled too much exhaust fumes.

Alright so you think that a leaky/malfunctioning injector might be the problem from what I said about the problem. Does'nt wanna start unless I fully gas it so I'll go look for some injectors and possibly colder spark plugs?
