I was wondering if the only real thing that JWT and JET do is tune the Ignition? I'm sure they they try to make a better a/f ratio too, but is most of the power gained from the ECU retune from Ignition advance? I ask because I was looking around on the net and came aross this

http://www.perfectpower.com/products/smt6.asp

And i was wondering if I could use something like this to advance my ignition and get the same amout of power. I also like it so when I can a certain part I wouldn't need to send the ecu back. Here is a screen shot from the program and it looks like you can adjust the ignition about every 500 rpm's. What do you guys think?

BTW This does not have a knock sensor. But i heard that if I run a EGT gauge, I will know that I'm knocking because the EGT will go up really high, is this true? Could I use a EGT to tune this, and stay sure i'm not knocking? Thanks.

JWT changes a few things such as air/fuel, timing and removes speed limiter and up’s the rev limiter. I think the best ECU would be a JWT ECU with a piggy back such as a Geddy E manage to "fine tune” your air/fuel mixture JWT will always tune on the rich side to cover his own a$$. This is where a piggyback would come in to alter the air/fuel after it comes out of the ECU. Plus you could add bigger injectors along with a bigger maf all with out sending your ECU back, plus you have a “data logger” with a piggyback.

I agree with Techno man, however you could use this program to do some basic good.

An EGT gauge will not always tell if you have knock though, so I truely wouldn't go that rout.

I think the Best option is not a JWT ecu but rather a full standalone setup....
