So purchased this 1991 240sx with 116xxx a month or so ago and been trying to figure out why its been acting up .Sometimes the car will start then instantly die then wont start back up. I`ll leave it alone then next morning it will start no problem . Also sometimes when i start it and tap the gas the rpm drops and wants to die out and sputtters. Replaced Fuel filter and spark plug wires and plugs after last week it left me stranded after turning my car off for 10 minutes then started it and just shut off instantly then wouldn't start again til i replaced the ignition wires and fuel filter . What really concerns me is the harness that connects to the ignition coil . the resistor and condenser are completely toast  don`t know how look like a fire occured only on that section of the harness . what do i do :wtf2: sorry i`m clueless

That will be your problem right there.
I doubt it's a fire, but you probably have a short somewhere, and that is what has cooked the wiring.
Try and get it to an auto electrician, so they can trace the fault and fix it.
Does it look the same as in this thread? post5339924.html?hilit=240sx%20melted%20coil#p5339924
Use the search button to find if anyone else has had the same issue as you. You may find a solution to your problem in a past thread.

thanks for the quick response ozzie ! and yes it does look similar . i managed to get a wire harness from a 93 and i found where the sensors are at on it . could i jus splice new harness in where old ignition coil harness was since its fried .

so i replaced the ignition coil harness and bled the coolant and it doesnt sputter as much but still does jus a little and rarely but still does it everytime i drive. some times from 1 when i`m taking off taping the gas it wants to die out so i have to keep the rpm up sometimes. and overheated on me this morning on the way to work . relived the pressure to the overflow when i got to work and almost filled the overflow up . need coolant flush or new radiator ? thermostat was jus replaced from oem .
