ignition coil test ? or did I get screwed? Need Mechanics advise

Man am I glad I found this forum! Thanks in advance. I have a 2001 Pathfinder w/ 98k miles. The check engine light went on, runs rough only intermittently then gets better quick,scanner said error code p1320 ignition. Took to my mechanic and he said I needed to replace all 6 ignition coils for $1,100 installed. OUCH ! only a week after Christmas- cant handle it. Went online and found them for about $490 delivered.(Hitachi... are these any good?) My question is why cant the scanner tell me just the one that is bad? Seems assinine I have to replace all 6 when problably only 1 is bad. Is there a way to test each coil to see if it is good? or am I Fu%^$&? Thanks BP

hey i havent had this problem personnaly but i have been reading and on another post a mechanic says that they CAN tell you exactly what coil is bad so there probably trying to screw you.
