I know alarm systems can cause all sorts of funny problems. My car had one installed in it when I first purchased it and it was done very poorly. It took me a good 6 months and burning up part of my wiring harness to get all of the bugs worked out.

yeh, im not sure.. i bought this shell with the alarm already in it..the engine overheated and blew its gasket..so im not too sure of how the engine ran before or ANYTHING. I did pull out the fuses in the fuse box but none of them changed my ground. hrmmm...

Hey, it seems I isolated the ground a little more. I disconnected my super multiple junction(SMJ) under the driver side dash. where does the wires lead to after they hit the SMJ? The fuse box? I took out all the fuses of that fuse box and the ground still was there...it only goes away when i disconnect the SMJ. any ideas?

I was looking at the schematics..and they are pretty vague as to whats beyond the SMJ. It only shows about 6 wires rather than the 20 or 30 that actually go through the SMJ.. hrmm.. ill just have to investigate i guess.

well, i e-mailed heavythrottle to see if they could offer any ideas and they told me the black/red shouldn't be grounded. i checked some wiring diagrams and it seems that it SHOULD be grounded. It goes into a fuse which puts the black/red right into a ground wire through the ignition relay(under the driver side dash). check out this wiring diagram i got from the S13 tech manual. I highlighted the relays and what not. If the black/red isn't supposed to be grounded...why do the schematics have it grounded? dont get it. i uploaded the diagram to the URL: http://www.geocities.com/engli....html check it out.
