I am chasing down a miss in my engine now that I have it running, I have brand new plugs, a relatively new MAF and everything otherwise is smooth, I just get a miss around 2000-2500RPM on slight acceleration. I think it's a coil pack going bad but I'm not sure. I've run across some deals on 1990-95 coils on eBay however not so for the '96. I'm curious as to if the coils from a 90-95 will work on a '96 or not. Has anyone done this? Please let me know if it's possible. I know that the coil for cyl 1 and 2 is compatible, but not sure about the others.

Thanks in advance!

Well, I bit the bullet and purchased an entire bank for $60 on eBay, the listing said 90-96, but I'm not sure how accurate that is. I figure the worst case scenario is that I now have 3 extra coils that don't work on my car, I'll turn around and sell those on eBay. The car they are off of had 110K on the odo so hopefully they are still good.

Since nobody has responded on this topic, I will be the guinea pig, hopefully by Monday I will have the parts and will be able to report back.

Look at the part numbers at IOS for 95 and 96. I bet they are the same.

I think you're going to find that the coils from a 90-93 are not compatible with the 94-96..different connector shapes. One connector has rounded rounded corners, the other has squarish corners. You've probable already figured it out but the #1 and #2 coils have the plug on the coil mounted 180 degrees off from the other 6 coils and are not interchangeable meaning they've got to be used in #1 and #2 cylinder only.
