Well everyone is going to tell you to SEARCH, as they should! This has been discussed many, many times before. DOn't just search for igniter, search for Osaka too. You should have done your research before ordering your motor, you'll need lots of additional parts with an Osaka motor.

I wont be an *** to you man. I saw some on EBAY yesterday. Do an ebay search for SR20det ignitor chip. it should come up. I'll bet however, if you can't find one there, you could buy one from the shops that are represented on this board. They will probably charge you more though since you didn't buy the engine from them.

What kind of deal did you get on an engine with out ignitor chip? And what else does it not come with?

Doesnt sound real good so far. IMO

Their S13 engines run at just over $1000USD I believe. The harnesses are cut, they have no igniter chip, often the CAS is broken, sometimes they don't have ECU, no MAF etc. Basically you're buying engine /trans/turbo/atarter/alt/PS/AC/IC although I've seen some without PS and AC they'd probably replace those. Their website specifically says sensors etc. aren't included although some engines come with them.

When you need to source all the missing parts it doesn't take long to chew up that other $1000 + which puts the price right in line with complete swap kits.

Ok not too bad if you already swapped and wreck an engine. Will have to keep that in mind.

OSAKA aint as bad as you guys think. Mine came with all sensors, ecu, transmission, all accs, cut harness of course but hell you cant beat it for 900 bones. Perfect for standalone.Let me know if you need any sensors or ECU when you get it.

Good luck with it, take pics and let us know.

yeah, the Q45 ignitor works, but only the 94-96 (i think) will directly plug up

ok i have a question, im a little lost here what exactly is the igniter chip, and i've looked at some motor pics and they don't seem to have regualr spark plug wires, what exactly do they have, is it some kind of coilpack or something on the sparkplug hole? Thanks for your help in advance

Each spark plug is mated with its own coil. The coils are all powered by the ignitor chip, which also tells which to fire. Ignitor chip is basically an electronic version of a distributor.

Thanks a for you help, i had no clue about that, now so i lets say i would like to upgrade or simply change the sparkplug wires, i will have to change that coil along with it? Do you know of anyplace that I could get this parts from, one more thing since it seems you have a good knowledge about the sr, what spark plugs should i get, like what's the number or code. Thank you

The only coil upgrades currently are the splitfire coil pack upgrade, but the stock ignitor chip must still be retained. There is also the HKS Twin Power DLI that increases current/voltage sent to the coils, and I don't know if it replaces the ignitor or not (does not include upgraded coils--stock or upgraded coils can be used). The MSD DIS-4 also does the same as the HKS, and I do believe you can do away with the ignitor chip for this.

Vendors for such items can be found at phase2, enjuku, overboost, jspec, and probably more that I have not stumbled upon.

Getting the Splitfire coils with HKS or MSD ignition amplifiers would be quite an insane spark setup.

I am getting the splitfires on order right now because my missfire and stuttering during moderate or high boost. It went away for a little while after changing gaps and stuff, but it has returned in a more severe way. I think my stock coils are getting aged and weak. My spark gap went from .032, .030, .028, and now .025. Each time I lowered my gap, the missing went away (but increased lower rpm miss) and returned later on. This is a giveaway that my spark is getting weaker and weaker.

Thanks a lot for all your info, it has been really helpful, i learned something new today :) Now how about the spark plugs, im getting NGK's what's the name code for those i read something about NKR something, and what gap should i have them, on stock boost and maybe later on about 14 psi's. I really appreciate all your help. Thanks again

I've had a couple guys offering me a price for it, but I've declined them all because I know ignitor chips are pretty expensive and hard to come by nowadays. Nice to have an extra one laying around for back up. Thanks for the offer though.
