Good luck...

You know if you wanted less road vibraitons from the metal collars, energy suspesnion also makes poly subframe bushings.. People run them on the Qs all the time and they work great!

Thanks for the suggestion wes, I actually thought about that as plan of action later on down the road if the metal collars were too harsh. It's just a better solution at this point in time, I can't afford too much down time.

Are the collars a thing where you can leave the fubared bushing in place?

Quote »energy suspesnion also makes poly subframe bushings[/quote]I am strongly against poly bushings. I have had pretty sad experience with ply stuff (4x4 field gives you a lot of opportunities to experiment).Aside form the fact they are stiffer that rubber (OEM) bushings they tend to "walk" on/in a mounting area. Also, you would have to deal with squeaks. I had Poly bushings in my JEEP (firs lift kit). I hated every day I had to drive my JEEP around town when weather was dry. When whet, there was no problems, water is instant lubricant .I wold recoment OEM or quality rubber bushings!Cheers!

Yes, they've got slots in the upper collors to just slide them into place... it's a shortcut

OK well i got the car back today.. The abstract? Its not any better

They concluded it wasnt the driveshaft... Siad that they put a mic up to it and stuff like that and it was as smooth and quiet as can be!!!

They suspected a bad wheel bearing in the RR... Do you all think it could cause that sort of problem, a faster feeling vibraiton starting at 70mph, its a very fast feeling vibration...

They also siad the tires and wheel were messed up.. I will have them balanced...

Wes just put the rear of your Q up and rock the rear wheels to see if there's any play in it, for me it didn't make any screeching noises it just was blown and would rock back and forth, if you've got play then it's the wheel bearing. And as far as that being the culprit... well time and the process of elimination will tell.

When I first read your post, jacked up the rear end and shifted through 3 gears to see if the vibration was present, my father was watching the wheel with the blown bearing for any movement and there didn't seen to be any at the time. Keep in mind I wasn't going faster than 45mph, and at higher speeds it may be more apparent for you.

Yeah a bent rim will make you life a living hell, before I got some 'straight ' stock alloys I was rolling on twisted stellies.... not fun... not to mention blown tension rod bushings and bald tires, anyway good luck and I hope my non-sensical ramlings may help.

Thanks to SPL for the parts and FarFetched for the added incentive! Last night I finally had some spare time to install the subframe bushing collars, and what a difference it made, no more mid-range vibration. So the blown bushings were the culprit after all, still have to do the wheel bearing though... maybe that'll smooth it out a little more. I wanted to do the installs seperately so I could isolate the problem instead of doing 3 things at once and not learning a thing, I will say that the metal on metal creates some harmonic vibrations at higher speeds. I'm sure after a couple of weeks I'll get used to it though. So i figured I'd let you all know where I stood on my issues.BTW wes, sorry if I hi-jacked the thread but I didn't want to create a new topic to share my results with you guys.

Interesting, im starting to think it could be my subframe bushigns... Maybe its possible theyre already shot, and all the goo has leaked and been washed away......

Did you have to drop the subframe to do the collars?

Not really drop it but lower it using a floor jack underneath the diff while on jack stands just enough to get the top collars in place , SPL did a nice little install how-to here: http://www.splparts.com/doc/Su...t.htm. I can't imagine the Q being that much different, took me about 25 min. to install.
