I saw a bunch of different threads, but I basically am wondering now, maybe some more people have used different parts, what would you choose for parts?

I am thinking of using:

-JE pistons-Eagle Rods-ARP studs-Clevite (sp?) bearings

I am looking for 450whp out of the car.

I will be using Haltech E6K for fuel and ignition management, and I will have a Big turbo so that's not the problem.

What would you guys suggest? Is this too overkill? Good enough?

I am in the middle of swapping the SR into my 240, and the SR is on the shop floor, I will want to rebuild it as soon as this summer, so there is no use putting it stock in the car, and pulling it out again in the summer to get it rebuilt.

Also, where are there good deals for engine parts?

Thanks,

Jay

If JUN makes it, I want it in my motor.

Uh huh, ain't it much more $$??

I can get JE pistons, and Eagle rods locally, for 1800$ CDN. That's about 1125$ US.

I saw that Phase2 has the Arias pistons, and the eagle rods on sale for 900$ US, but then you need to machine the small end of the rod, which according to my engine builder, is about 125$US so total would be 1025$ US for the Phase2 deal, but since I am in Canada, I need to tack on shipping, brokerage and Tax (roughly 250$US), so I guess the deal I am getting is pretty good! :D

What about Wiseco Pistons? Are they any good? What rods would they match up with?

I have heard excellent stuff about CP pistons...they are more expensive but are supposed to be one of the best. I have heard of some sizing problems with JE pistons as well as a longer wait. Not that they are bad, they ARE one of the most well known and respected piston makers, you really cant go TOO wrong with any of the big names :)

Yeah but do they have a SR20DET configuration? Who sells them? Also, I am looking for something being a sort of kit, including bearings and the like.

I dont know, they can custom make just about anything but you wont get a kit with bearings and everything...you'll get wrist pins and clips...you'll have to get rods and bearings somewhere else. Honestly it's probably not what your looking for, I was just throwing it because I've heard nothing but good things about them....they are like 6-700 a set though :(

Wiseco pistons are sold from Race Engineering @ raceeng.com. All the "Race Engineering" pistons that are sold are custom made by Wiseco. Of course they sell pistons from other manufactuers too.

Thats where I got the idea for the Wiseco. Also, in the new Turbo zine, they are using wisco pistons in their MR6.

The CP piston Idea ist bad, but thats just alittle more that I want to pay, considering I still have to source bearings and the like. who sells them anyways? I still want to keep my options open.
