Ok, I could get an Autometer Ultra-Lite EGT gauge and sensor for 117.95 plus shipping from Summit Racing, or I could get a Greddy 60mm EGT gauge with sensor and everything for 160.00 shipped. What would you guys do? is the Greddy $40 better than the Autometer? Thanks for the opinions!

theyre both reputable names, autometer knows gauges, theyve been around forever, but in my honest opinion, i think its all personal preference on looks, theyll do the same thing(probly just as good as the other)

but, when dealing with gauges, comparing mechanical vs. electronic DOES matter....

Well, they are both electric...are there even any mechanical EGT gauges? I seem to only see electric ones. They have the mechanical sensor and then a harness and wires that go through the firewall to the gauge.

True, thanks for the advice :) If I get the autometer, I could ALSO get an a/f gauge...I know they arent great, but its better than not having one at all.

Edit: or I could get an oil pressure and water temp gauge...hmm, more advice!

Do you mean you'd rather have oil temp over water temp or oil pressure over water temp?

All three.

Um i meant oil pressure over water. does the stock overheat gauge really do anything?

EDIT: the reasoning: Your going turbo right? so the lines to the turbo have the possiblity of breaking, technician messing up, or just not working right. So you will have an increased possibilty of no oil which means coked turbo and possibly engine messed up. Then again your engine temp is important too...

haha, well of course all three would be the best...but I think I'll just get two for now and the EGT gauge. Thanks

Because I have a CA18DET, HKS GT2540, Apexi PowerFC and should be making around 300hp...hence I want to make sure things are tuned right and EGT is good for that. As for the technician screwing up...that'd be me! :) I might look into an oil temp gauge as well, we'll see how much it costs.

Update: I bought the VDO EGT gauge from summit and the summit racing water temp and oil pressure mechanical gauge package too...165 shipped! I didnt think I did too bad for getting three gauges, they dont match but I dont particularly care...the car is not very pretty ;)
