....would this be anywhere on your list?

The numbers are in for the 2013. 545 horsepower / 463 ft lbs. That's a whole lot of awesome for $100K.

If not, if you had the money to spend, what would you buy?

For $100k I want something that's also stylish, so I'd find the cleanest, newest, sharpest Cadillac XLR-V I possibly could.

Driving my dream car two years ago only heightened my affection for it.

I'm with Jesda. An XLR-V and another old Datsun to wrench on... :)

Not even on my radar. I'd get a cranked up 34 R and pocket $20,000 for gas.

All good choices, but I'd rather put the money into something like a cheaper condo in a town I like and deal with whatever I drive now...

If not, I would also do the whole "buy an old, reliable car and save the rest in some sort of fund" thing...

Other than the impressive power retracting roof and air conditioned seats, I would take a Z06 long before an XLR-V, which costs less, has more luggage space, a manual transmission and guages.

If the GT-R came with a 6 speed, I'd be tempted. But as far as $100K AWD supercars, I'd probably go for an Audi R8 V10 6-speed.

Nope, I'm with Joel. If Jim spending $100k on something like that, it'll be an R8.

If I have other options, I'd be looking hard at the C6 ZR1 or a Hennessey tuned CTS-V wagon.

I actually really enjoy the building process. Not that it wouldn't be awesome to get an out of the box racecar. But I love going online and dropping a couple grand on parts and stuff, then the anticipation of waiting for them to come in so you can install them. Not sure WHAT I would build, but I would build something. :yesnod :naughty:

Honestly now that I think about it. I would probably build two cars. A supercharged race ready Miata for the track and some form of obscenely original street build. Can you say twin turbo Austin Healy? :yesnod

If I had like, $37,000,000, then yeah, I'd probably blow the 100 grand on one.

Ugh, I just did the math. With taxes, it would take me over 600 years to save that much.

Can't quite get an XJL Supersport for $100k, so this:

I would install electronic exhaust cutouts right after the headers and scare the SH#T out of college kids who don't know how to use crosswalks and little old ladies in Avalons with Blizzaks who drive 15mph on dry asphalt.

100k sure doesn't buy as much as it used to :(

Maybe a used R8, F430, or NSX.

Brand new going Shelby GT500.

This. For Greg. And I'd spend every last cent on it if I had to. It's the only one left that he wants.

If I had a check for a 100k then no because I wouldnt be able to keep it long enough with all the other expenses with it. Or, I would buy a earlier model for 60k if I could find it. Realistically though I would get a C6 Z06 with some nasty mods and a good cheap but in good condition S14.

I would grab a nice r34 first before the gtr. Realistically I would like to find a nice GT car, possibly turbo'd, something on the heavier side and comfortable to drive. Maybe an Austin Martin DB9 or the Vantage

Even being the unapologetic R35 Mechagodzilla fan that I am, I would opt for something different.

You'll need an additional $50k+ to get into a V10. Otherwise I would be right there with you, only because of the 6 speed.

With $100K and a 2013 model year requirement (after all, the point the article is making is that the GT-R is a great bang for the supercar buck with NEW supercars, so I will stick to new cars in light of such), I would lump in my own requirement for a manual transmission and say I would buy a 2013 SRT Viper base (it would BARELY undercut the $100k cap.) If I wanted breathing room, a 2013 Cadillac CTS-V Coupe.

For something used... R34 FTMFW.

I'd be curios as to what an S2K with 100 grand under the hood could do.
