There has always been this annoying squeaks when going over slow bumps which I could never pinpoint. Now this afternoon, It seems like the whole front of the car is squeaking and now there is a rattle somewhere in the back too. It sounds like it is somewhere around the front windshield, but I can't duplicate the sound. I don't want to take it to the Stealership because we all know how they are and they will say you have an Aftermarket Stereo, Exhaust and lowering springs and that may be causing the squeaks when clearly they are not. I don't know what my options are, but I do know that I can't take much more of this. The main reason I bought Nissan was because of their reliability and build quality, but I may have to sell it, it is that annoying and making me that mad. Does anyone have any ideas before I go postal?

I thought about applying DynaMat but I don't know how I would apply it in the area where it sounds like the squeaks are coming from(Under the Dash, A-Pillars)

QFT.

Open the windows. Turn on some music.

Cars make noises... Don't expect complete silence.

buy or download this from a torrent somewhere:http://www.rattlebuster.com/index.html

then try to isolate the vibration, it will work I promise.

take some foam sheets or insulating stuff I don't know what it's called and then after removing the panel put it againts the metal.

one days work and all the rattle are gone

Uh.... Very Interesting. If it is warm enough this weekend, I am going to once again see if I can track it down. If not, I may resort to something like buying a "Rattle Cd". Lol....... If it works, that would be very funny. Thanks for the link though mcheddadi!

Mike,

I think mchedaddi has a good point! That cd may work, but i believe there are frqencies that you can download off the net for free.. these are often used my audio tuners to tune/test an audio system... I will look for one and get back to you!

now, what i would do first and foremost is check the foloowing three places

1. remove your a pillars and listen to music and drive around... see if the rattles are still there. There are these white pieces that are attached to the car frame under the A pillars, and they rattle in my car, and I will be eliminating tose when I finish my custom a pillar setup

2. if the rattle continue with the a pillars off, next, remove the speaker covers for your 3.5" dash speakers. At certain frequencies, they may rattle also. At this time, be sure to check the 3.5" speakers themselves. Sometimes, they can rattle loose and the screws could be rattling when the get certain frequencies through the car's vibration or stereo noise.

3. Check the covers for the side view mirrors. they look like triangles. I know these are rattling in my car and i have to fis these.

in any case, these are the three most likely candidates for rattles up front. if you fiond rattles in either of these three then

1. for the A pillars, disconnect the white pieces and wrap some cloth or carpet around them behind the a pillars. That's what i'm gonna do!

2. A. for the speaker grills , a thin layer of electrical tape or a thin layer of insulation where the grill contacts the dash should elilminate that. B. for the speakers, just tighten the hell out of em!

3. if its the triangle piece, use some non hardening putty around where the insert into the door (you'll see what I mean when you take em off, and yes you must remove the door panel to take em off completely), and for the rest, then insulation tape or that trunk carpeting material (that they cover wsubwoofer boxes with) should work behind the actual triangle piece!

i know this was long, but doing these one at a time should eliminate the rattles! Hope this helps!

I have a new rattle, but I am pretty confident something is loose inside the passenger door so it should be easily fixed. It gets louder and louder the faster I go and its really really annoying.

From what I know from manufacturing, always do installation of parts when it's cold so that when it turns warmer, the parts will expand and sort of "fill in." I could be wrong though but this is coming from a dealership worker.

after writing my sarcastic remark. i realized that you live like 15 mins north of me. I know some people at the nissan dealer in fallston that may be able to look at it and ignore the mods that you have, and give you an honest opinion if you are interested.

That's funny. I know the service manager pretty well at JonesJunction Nissan after all the issues I had with my 05' Frontier. I am going to see if I can find them first AGAIN, but if I can't, maybe I can use your connection.
