If HU has preamp outputs do you still need the crutchfield harness??

I ordered a Head unit for my J30 94 from Crutchfield and bought the special adapter 142C4NN03 that everyone suggested for 94 J30.

The fuzzycats webpage has an excellent text of this as well. Where it talks about two different harnesses based on year. Seems like mine did not match.

However after getting the shipment I found that the harness does not match with my 94 factory J30. Also the adapter reads "95 and up" instead of 94 up.

Reading previous threads I learnt that at some point Crutchfield did not have the option to select 199* Infiniti J30 so people had to use Nissan to get the harness.

Any how, I also read from different thread at Nico regarding this adapter that if the HU has 4 PREAMP outputs then you dont need to buy the special adapter. You can connect directly to the factor harness. Can anyone verify this, please?

Look at the back of your OEM Headunit ..Mines was stamp 96 which put me in the same boat. (Been replaced by PO)I got the correct harness at a local Car Toys.
