if chain guides are broken will the engine start

i was wondering if that could be the cause of my engine being dead.i heard the rattling/ the chain was scratching my valve cover/ then i did what any dumb person would do and pushed it/ it died as i down shifted to 2nd/ when my engine starts it sometimes doesnt start or it idles at 1200 then goes down to 400 then back up to 700 then to 200 then to dies.(audio of it reving) vrooom, vroom, vrom, then its dead. i tred pushing the gas but it doesnt seem to work. what could it be?

It may have jumped timing due to the fact it has way too much slack in the chain now

the slack is very small i could push the chain about half an inch is that, that bad
