Idling too fast

Hello Everyone, I just joined this site today. I have a problem with my 1998 Nissan Sentra SE. It has nearly 300,000 miles on it and a friend of mine asked if I had ever cleaned the carburetor on it? Since I'm the second owner, my sister was the first, I wasn't sure if she had ever done it or not. But anyway I thought that I would look and see just how dirty the carb was. it was filthy!! I bought some spray carb cleaner and I cleaned on both sides of the butterfly. After I was finished I took it for a ride and then came home. The next day when I started it it was idling way too fast and it never seemed to come down. Could anyone tell what I did wrong to cause it to idle so fast? Thank you for any help you can offer me.

sir, you may want to double check to see if that in fact has a carburetor.

but it sounds like you just need to adjust the idle adjustment screw.
