Still having idling problems with my 93 240sx when coming to a stop, I know i have to clean the Iacv but i need a walkthrough on how to dismantal and locate it,

I need to know where to start, how much time and work is involved if it can be done in an hour or 2 hours or what not all information would be appreciated.

I know that vancouverbc has a detailed post but half the stuff to me seems like its another language. Any help is appricated. I want to get my car on the road without stupid problems that are driving me insane that i cant even drive it to work anymore.

So your saying to drill a small hole into the hose and spray carb cleaner into it?

that's what some people do. I have never tried it.

have you tried cleaning your maf? its a simple procedure and not as tough as taking the iacv out.

go to your parts store and pick up a maf cleaner, not the carb cleaner, theyre 2 different chemicals. the carb cleaner will ruin your maf if you use it.

unplug your maf pigtail and take your maf out completely from your engine. then take a screw driver and unscrew the top 2 screws taking it fully apart. lay it down and spray that ma'fugger with the spray a few times till you think you've gotten everything. allow time for it to dry, then plug it back in, and start it back up.

hopefully that will work, if not, then i'm pretty sure its your iacv, tps, and/ or vacuum leak.

but at least this way you know for sure its not your maf

K set the idle back up to 700 - 750, Car idles fine now, But when coming to a stop it drops back to 400 - 500rpm and lifts back up to 700. Sprayed throttle body cleaner, which fixed the hard idling and stablized it. Checked the Maf and Cylinders.

Gonna try and remove the Iacv this saturday and see if I can clean it up and get it going hopefully it helps. Also gonna check compression and alternator.

Any other suggestions? Please feel free to advice I could use all the help I can get.

Alright I couldnt get the Iacv out its almost impossible on my 93 where its located there are 3 screws holding it in place. One can be reached thru the throttle body and comes out quite easily. The 2nd one is on an angle towards the engine which I cant get at no matter what I do. The 3rd I believe is underneath that one which I havnt even tried to get to.

I ended up removing one of the small hoses that goes from the intake to the iacv , turn the car on revved it up and sprayed some cleaner into it which helped out a bit for a while. Took the car out with some friends gave it some speed. I noticed once slowing down and going thru residential zones with stop signs the idling was f***ed up again.

So I brought it straight home and sprayed back into the iacv once again!... which fixed the problem once again... or so I thought altho the idling stabalizes for a while I noticed some weird things like when I clutch in or the car is dropped into neutral while rolling to a stop the RPM's are hesitent to come down. It stops at 1300 and 900 before ultimatly dropping to normal. When it sticks at 1300 and 900 it sticks there anywhere from 1 - 2 seconds each time.

So 2 days after all that iacv spraying I'm coming home from a job interview and i noticed at a red light my rpms are at 1300 and staying there... and wobbling between 1100 and 1500 back and forth then drop to 800 and back up to 1400 and wobbling again. The car continues to do this for quite a while so I rev up my engine to see if it will regulate... the car hesitates feels like its shaking really badly. So I'll start to drive it when the light turns green and it seems like the car isnt driving smoothly anymore... It seems like its hopping down the street rather then just glidding you feel it bobbing all around.

So I come home spray the iacv again! the rpms drop to 800 - 900 for a while... Take the car out for a few hours (Date) and notice it acting funny while Im driving and my lady's asking me whats wrong with it cuz it feels like its bouncing. Got it home sprayed the Iacv once again! Take it out for a drive and it runs smooth as ever... I wonder how long it will last.

Any help!?
