K guys, your the best, so i need to sap more energy from your brains..

My Idle in the last 2-3 days has gone real weird.. it's going from 700rpm to 500rpm every like 3-4 seconds ( without climate control turned on), and on the idle, it's making popping noises every couple of seconds.. I've tried different plugs, different plug gaps from 0.7 mm to 0.5mm, tried champion gold plugs, ngk double platinum, and normal budget NGKs, they all do it.. i've checked hoses, timing is at 15btdc, everything !! lol

Worse thing is, i have a track day this sunday, I'm gunna run some Octane booster ( car pings when it gets hot here atm, tried timing, but just toooooo laggy), and i don't wanna blow her up just yet.. shes a good little engine

Anyone got ideas ? I've also checked my boost controller pipes, all the hose clamps, everything.. i just can't seem to find it !! also, when i changed the timing i reset the ECU as an incase thing as well..

Pete

Now it's time to check for seriously uneven cylinder compression and if that pans out okay, check your vacuum and look for little leaks because one place that can catch a bad leak and no ever really knows is between the two butterfly valve plenums. There are seals there that can and will go bad. Just trying to help.

If your car is idling up and down, remove the AAC selonid out which is held by two philp screws. Becareful when you remove it, there is a small shaft and spring in there not to lose them. Usually that shaft got dirty and seizes, clean both the selonid, the shaft and the where the selonid plugs onto the intake. That should fix your problem.

Good luck,RafiPULSAR GTR

Thanks guys, will try a compression check tomorrow ( if i can get hold of the dooflah machine).

i've heard about this AA solenoid before, but even with the climate control off, would it still do it ?

Yes it will still do it even if the climate control is off. Common problem on the CA engines.

do a compression check and look for boost leaks first

Like Danny said pressure check the entire system to find vacuume leak/boost leaks.

Okay, haven't got to the Compression check yet, but i've checked all my hoses, and checked the bolts on my dump pipe ( they come loose all the time), and refitted a few 'cooler hoses just in case.. but still bloody does it !!

grr !
