Hi people, after resurrecting my car from several years of hibernation, there's a problem with that z31 NA (1986, European spec). It idles at around 1400 rpm no matter the temperature. I sort of remember back in a day this was solved by reconnecting a small vacuum hose near the battery - doesn't seem to be the case this time. Help?

Welcome to NICO Club!

I think there's a vacuum line that goes to the Fuel Pressure regulator at the end of the fuel rail. Maybe that's your memory? We do have the FSM and it has an idle adjustment procedure. I'd look into that. There's an idle up solenoid. I'd check that as well. Oh, and consider siphoning and filling your fuel tank with good gas.

Anyway, straight idle and timing adjustment is in the EF & EC chapter at page 40...

Could well be a vacuum line rotted, common on these cars as they age. Near the battery assuming LHD is the heater petcock as well as the egr and another vac line that goes through the firewall for the hvac controls. start checking all your little hoses.

Hello, -did you find the problem?

I have the same problem with mine, and it settles at 900 rpm when I disconnect the air flow meter...
