Newly swapped sr20det

I have read some similar problems, sorry if this has been covered, but I have been searching on and off for two weeks. I have everything hooked up (I think) and the engine fires right up and runs (roughly) for 10-15 seconds then dies. Then only runs for 7-10sec. and dies. Then it won't start. I think it may be getting too much fuel but I haven't upgraded the fuel pump yet and I just put new spark plugs in and no change occured. Maybe I am not getting enough spark? Thanks in advance for any help on this, I am about to set it on fire

sounds like a boost leak.. dont gas alot or your gonna flood the intake.. check your throttle cable..

Answer these questions

1. When running does it start to stumble then smoke black out of the exhuast?2. Does the car run longer with the MAF disconnected?3. Are your plugs fouled out when you remove them after the car has done this?

I don't think the smoke is very black and it doesn't really stumble at first but then it stumbles right before it dies. The maf unplugged is no change and the old plugs had fuel on them after a couple of times of starting it then it dying. I have not checked the new plugs yet but it does start to smell of fuel after a couple of times of trying to start it after it has died the second time. Also to answer the first question, I am using my hand on the throttle that is under the hood, so the cable is fine. Thanks

sounds like vac/boost leak or timing is off.

When either of those two things are wrong, your throttle response will be very poor. So, if you blip the throttle, it will hesitate for a sec then jump in rev instead of an immediate response.

I am getting no response. It just ran for about 18seconds which is the longest it has ran. I have moved the cam angle sensor up and down and nothing there has changed anything. The new plugs smell a little like fuel after the car won't start the third time but are not dripping like the old ones were. I have tried to pinch the fuel line to slow the fuel intake but it did nothing.

I think your MAF is done. Try using another MAF.

It does the same thing with the maf plugged in and unplugged. Tomorrow I guess I will pull the valve cover and see if the cams are lined up with each other.

I would like to, but it doesnt stay running for long enough. I have read that the timing could be off. I am checking that tonight. I will report back with the results.

Dude the MAF being disconnected or bad will cause the car to run VERY VERY Rich and will die trust me my buddy had the same problem and so did I. Try someone elses MAF. KA SOHC and DOHC both work you just have to wire them in.
