I got carried away the other day and pulled all the idler pulleys off, unfortunately I overlooked the order in which they were disassembled.

Anyone have any notion, or a pic, of what goes where?

I checked the FSM and haven't came across a clear picture.(MA-11 shows the drivebelts but not a clear picture of the pulleys themselves)

Be sure to post in the Infiniti Online Mechanic forum.

I don't have a good picture of my engine.

Try searching eBay for JDM take-out engines, you might luck out and get a clear view of the pulleys there.

IIRC... The hint is that the washer that goes in front is the almost the same size as the nut... zerothread?id=128957

Isn't double posting a big no-no? (I went ahead & did it. Should I delete this thread?)

I got a couple of pics from Tangalora's efforts, but they aren't that clear.I will hit up ebay, jic something comes up.

The thin washers are the same size diameter/thickness. The thick ones are the same diameter but one is thicker than the other 2.(And its 3 thick washers, not 2 as I originally thought)

I installed them, but they appear way too reluctant to spin.(And thats without pressure on them from the belts!)

Then they are not right.

Take them off, there is a small bearing on each one. the center race is what teh bolts and the washers tighten against. The outer race should spin freely, with no play, what so ever. Fiddle around with the washers, to keep the bolt from tightening against the outer races. It should only fit one way. It's too bad we don' have access to teh factory ASM's. That would be awesome! The FSM leaves a lot to be desired, when disassembly and reassembly time comes around.

Not sure why you have four dust covers... Working from the engine out, the order is:

1) Thick Washer2) Pulley (flat side forward)3) thin washer4) dust cover5) nut

The back side of the pulley will have a "hump" around the bearing... make sure you don't flip the pulley, or put the thin washer on the outside of the dust cover...

Here's a couple of pics too... I'm having way too much fun with this...

Q451990 -You rock!

The small cover on the rear is the 4th. The other 2 pulleys don't have one on the rear. (At least not on my Q45)

Any notion as to which idler pulley the thickest washer goes to?

elwesso- Thanks. Guess I'll have to post the more technical stuff in here from now on.

From what I could tell, they were all the same on my "Q1" when I swapped them out last week. I guess you have some different thickness ones?

Yeah, the thickest is 3/8" thick. The other 2 are around 1/4" thick. But one of the idler pulley shafts are longer than the other 2, so I'm thinking it might need the thicker washer.
