i already searched for this with my original idle surge. before today at idle sometimes it would be at about 750rpm, then hear a click if outside of the car, and the revs would drop to almost 500 like it was goint o stall then surge between 500 and 700. the is a 95 auto. today i cleaned out the throttle body with carb cleaner came out good it was really dirty. but then i started up the car and it would surge more like the shake was felt more. no more of it sitting at the right rpm then surgeing. now it sits like a rock or it surges at idle. when i cleaned the throttle body i opened the throttle plate to get behind it. could that have possibly messed up the TPS? i wouldnt think so but u never know. any help please

Just buy touching the tps you can't mess it up, now if you adjust it you can screw it up :) But as far as using it to open the throttle plate it should be ok. The three main causes for surging are MAF sensor, TPS, and I forgot the third :doh You should check your plugs too since you cleaned out the throttle body. The carbon can buildup on your plugs as it blows by. And your O2 sensor

oh yeah, also listen close for vaccum leaks, and check around for them visually, physicaly

i just got back from vacation last night and what i remember messing with my car the day beforei left was that the egr fitting into my header is not screwed in lettin exhaust leak im hopin thats the problem. also for the first time in the almost year i've had the car i hear what i think is the injector pulses since the sound is coming fromn the injectors do u think this could have anything to do with it or maybe be a vacuum leak coming from around there

the s14's have it, atleast my 95 does. Infact I have an error code that won't go away for my IACV/ACC but the car runs fine. When I was cleaning the engine a long time ago I think I shorted something out, and triggered that :( I believe there's a plunger that will stick, as mayham said, and that would seem to cause a problem.

well i tried to get the egr in tonight no luck at all. got under the car and since mine is an auto the ATF tube was in the way and to take that out is a ***** b/c it goes deep into the transmission. got it out then a purple plug was in the way. i coundnt unplug it so i gave up for the night and put everything back together. anyone think i could take some liquid gasket stuff to it to seal it? any other suggestions on what to do? anything on that purple plug?
