Your cone filter is probably attached to the intake tubing by a worm drive clamp. Tighten it with a ratchet, not just a screwdriver. You said it's been on there for six months, and chances are you've hit quite a few bumps since then. A loose air filter on an aftermarket intake can cause at least some of the symptoms described in this thread.
I had a funky idle and a SES light. It finally went away when my cone filter fell off and into my K&N's heat shield. If it's not on tight enough, that can cause a bad seal and inconsistent airflow, which can throw off your MAF. Before you go messing with the MAF sensor, ensure that everything ahead of the MAF isn't the culprit.
In fact, your intake tubing itself is probably attached to the throttle body by another worm drive clamp. Make sure that's on there good and tight, too.
